Arriving
Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, opened in 2023, is about one hour from town by road. We can send a car for $30: write us your flight number on WhatsApp. Buses and minivans also arrive every day from Phnom Penh and from the Thai border.
Visa
Most visitors need a tourist visa. Many nationalities can apply online before travelling (e-visa), or get it on arrival at the airport. Your passport must be valid for at least six months. Rules change: check the official website for your nationality before you leave.
Money
The US dollar is used everywhere, alongside the Cambodian riel, which you get as small change (about 4,000 riel to the dollar). Bring clean dollar notes in good condition: torn notes are often refused. ATMs are easy to find, and many places accept cards or ABA KHQR.
When to come
- November to February: dry and less hot, the busiest season.
- March to May: very hot, often above 35 °C. Temples in the morning, pool in the afternoon.
- June to October: the green season. Short, heavy showers, usually in the afternoon, fewer visitors, and the countryside at its most beautiful.
Getting around
Tuk-tuks are everywhere. With the Grab and PassApp apps, you book a tuk-tuk or a car at a fixed price, without negotiating. For the temples, a driver for the day is easier: see our tours.
A few habits
- Cover shoulders and knees in temples and pagodas, and take off your shoes before entering.
- Don't touch anyone's head, and women should not touch monks.
- Drink bottled or filtered water, and use mosquito repellent at dusk.
- Plugs: types A, C and G, 230 volts.
